周杰倫繼2007年《不能說的秘密》後，構思整整六年，推出第二部電影作品《天台》。身兼導演、編劇、演出、配樂、更參與武術動作設計與影片剪輯工作的他，自認不好搞，而且光華麗的「天台」就燒破三千萬搭建。
電影的故事發生在一個美好年代，繁華的加利利市。四個哥兒們從小在城市裡一個叫天台區的地方一起長大，以「帥」為人生最終極的目標。整部電影色彩繽紛炫麗，充滿了濃濃的復古風情，周杰倫直說：「現代人的生活壓力太大了，我只想拍出『快樂』的感覺，希望觀眾看完電影都可以被感動，還有最簡單直接的快樂。」

能夠將自己所有喜歡的元素：音樂、歌曲、武打、舞蹈、懷舊等，都融合在一部電影裡，可說是周杰倫最想呈現給觀眾的完美電影，為了忠實呈現這個心目中的美好年代，他甚至還以八零年代叛逆青年髮型聖品「浪子膏」當作自己在電影裡的名字，周杰倫笑說：「拍電影要認真，不能只有帥，而且在各方面不管是服裝、髮型、配件還要帥的很精彩才行。」
周杰倫也坦言自己是一個「不好搞」的導演，對細節要求完美，腦中想法天馬行空。而電影中最主要的場景「天台」，花了超過新台幣三千萬搭出，是一個充滿神祕與幻想的空間，屋頂便是一座留聲機，每到黃昏時分便會撥放動人歌曲，讓大家伴著暮光與歌聲結束一天。只可惜電影一殺青該場景不得不全數拆除，讓整個劇組及周杰倫都覺得非常可惜。《天台》將於7月11日在台上映。
