巨人隊左投Barry Zito終於又贏了，擊敗老東家運動家隊。「灣區大橋系列賽」最後一場，巨人隊以5比2贏球，逃過被橫掃，Zito拿下本季第4勝，一掃之前連6先發不勝的陰霾。
「相信我，要是這一場沒贏，那麼我們飛往聖路易，將會是一段漫長的旅程。」巨人隊總教練Bruce Bochy的妙喻，反映出球隊現在的心情。「今天真是我們的危急關頭，事涉尊嚴，我們真的不想在灣區系列賽被橫掃。」
這是自2008年之後，巨人隊又一次輸掉這個系列賽。其實這一戰巨人隊贏得也很險，因為Zito前5局都讓對方上壘，甚至多次攻上得點圈，但運動家隊欠缺臨門一腳，只攻下1分而已。
開局運動家隊第一棒Coco Crisp就擊出二壘打，Jed Lowrie獲得保送，但Zito解決後面3位打者，沒掉分。第2局兩出局後，Zito保送對方先發投手、生涯第一次站上打擊區的A.J. Griffin，把原本的一壘跑者Derek Norris推上得點圈，因此Crisp的安打，才得以帶有1分打點。
第3局Zito還是沒有穩定下來，一開始就保送Yoenis Cespedes，但這位古巴好手盜壘被抓到。接下來Zito又保送Josh Donaldson，下一棒Nate Freiman擊出雙殺打，Zito安全下莊。
「實在有夠神奇，」教頭Bochy說，「Zito簡直是大魔術師胡迪尼，我不知道他怎麼辦到的。」 (接下一頁)
