哈佛學者法蘭西斯．福山的名著「歷史終結與最後一人」，指出自由民主與資本主義，已成為歷史上各種意識形態論戰的最終勝利者。近日民進黨主席蘇貞昌接受媒體專訪表示，「台灣是主權國家早已獨立」、「國號是中華民國」，不用再「走回頭路搞台獨」。蘇此言與福山相仿，大有企圖終結台獨歷史的氣魄。不過老實說，現在就要論斷台獨意識形態的終結與否，只怕還是太早。
蘇貞昌刻意在訪美前發表台獨相關論述，配合5月初召開中國事務委員會首次會議，目的應是想讓美國人知道，蘇已掌握民進黨內兩岸論述主導權，而他將揚棄台獨路線，因此2016年時他會是「安全」的候選人，美國不用再押寶在國民黨身上。不過這套精心劇本，卻讓刻意在中委會與全代會缺席的蔡英文給破了梗，無能整合蔡英文意見的結果，使得蘇貞昌的代表性缺了一半，已讓他在美國人面前洩氣不少。
進而解讀這番談話，除了「回頭說」有點新意，其他論述都是老調重彈，未能解決民進黨兩岸論述的老問題。
其一是避重就輕。蘇貞昌說身為黨主席立場，就是全代會通過的「台灣前途決議文」，他卻忘了「台獨黨綱」與「正常國家決議文」不也都經全代會通過？身為黨主席又怎能視若無睹？此二文件一日不廢，就代表民進黨始終停在「建國、制憲、正名」的台獨老路上，哪裡算是回頭路呢？
其二是一廂情願。蘇貞昌強調「台灣共識」，是多少代台灣人用幾百年在這土地上形成。不過這是一句「空話」，就算說得再好聽，都難以取代「九二共識」的實際功能。而且蔡英文選前赴美時，就已大談「台灣共識」，甚至還說要將之立法，可是美國人根本聽不懂，結果還放話質疑民進黨一旦執政，沒有維持兩岸關係穩定的能力與意願。如果蘇貞昌不想重蹈蔡英文覆轍，這趟最好別再拿「台灣共識」晃點美國人。 (接下一頁)
